This was the first time this mother of three had ever seen the inside of her home at night. Previously, the only light the family had was a dirty kerosene lamp and the coals from a small fire in the corner. The walls were thick with soot. Paul, the eldest son, is the best student in his class. When photographer David Middleton handed him a Luci, Paul immediately brought David to his hut, hung it from the roof and pulled out his biology book. He wouldn’t even pause to look up for the photo.
