Either wood or charcoal works for cooking with FirePit! If using an open flame, we recommend a low to medium flame for ideal cooking conditions. When using charcoal, we recommend moving the fuel rack to the top-rack position.

The cookout-to-hangout hack is using your cooking embers to your advantage as firestarter: start the evening cooking your dinner over charcoal. When you're done, lower the fuel rack to the lower position and toss a piece of firewood over the remaining embers. The coal bed will help the log catch quickly and you'll have a campfire going in no time without the typical startup.

The FirePit Griddle works best on a moderate flame with the FirePit fan on LOW. You do NOT need a large flame to cook effectively with the Griddle. You can also cook over charcoal by moving FirePit's fuel rack to the upper level.

The air vent located at the top of the lid can be rotated open or shut to help lower or raise internal temperatures. Always use a utensil or oven mitt when attempting to operate the vent while FirePit is in use.

After cooling completely after us, the griddle and lid can be washed with a sponge and mild soap, be sure to dry thoroughly after use. The griddle comes pre-seasoned, but additional seasoning will improve the surface over time: wipe all surfaces with a very light amount of vegetable, canola or soybean oil; Place over your FirePit burning with a small fire or in a 450F oven; Heat for approximately 20 min, the oil will smoke slightly; Remove the griddle from the heat with protective mitts and let cool. To clean FirePit, tilt with bottom door open to shake out ash, remove remaining debris with a brush. Wipe down unit with a damp rag and dry thoroughly. Grill Grate can be washed in sink with soap and water.
