As a runner, your headlamp is an essential piece of gear for those early morning or evening runs. And - like all running gear, it never hurts to clean it occasionally.
The BioLite Dash 450 is a headlamp built specifically with runners in mind and much of the design inspiration comes from other running wearables like shoes and watches where fit, breathability, performance, and weight are essential. Dash 450 is bright, and ultra-comfortable for the miles you log on paths and trails and is also easy to clean when it comes time to give it a refresh.
Here's how we recommend cleaning your rechargeable headlamp:

Gather your materials.
- A soft cloth
- A mild detergent or soap
- A toothbrush or cotton swab
- Warm water
- Turn off the headlamp and disconnect it from any charging cables.
- Rinse the headlamp strap under warm water to remove any dirt or debris. Avoid the hard aspects of the lamp (lens and rear battery) when putting under running water.
- Apply a small amount of mild detergent or soap to the straps.
- Give the straps another rinse under warm water to remove all traces of soap or detergent - avoiding the lens and rear battery.
- Wet the soft cloth and gently wipe the lens and rear battery casing on the headlamp to remove dirt and sweat.
- Use the toothbrush or cotton swab to clean any hard-to-reach areas, such as the crevices around the buttons or the charging port.
- Dry the headlamp completely with a soft cloth.
Additional tips for cleaning your headlamp:
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these could damage the headlamp.
- Clean your headlamp regularly, especially after use in muddy or dusty conditions. While Dash 450 is IPX4 rated, dirt build up on and behind the front lens or on the rear battery may eventually result in tilting issues or blocking of light.
- Store your headlamp in a cool, dry place when not in use.
