At 43%, Gaza has the highest unemployment rate in the world. Rolling blackouts last 8-10 hours a day, limiting income generating hours for those trying to make a living to almost nothing. Even so, 70% of households can’t afford to pay their meager electric bills. Without a reliable source of power, there’s no way out for struggling families. Yet Gaza is also one of the richest in the world in one resource: sunlight, averaging 320 clear days a year. Thanks to Rebuilding Alliance, we’ve found a way to get our lights to hundreds of families throughout the region.
